Description

A men in an ankle-length robe with rich drapery below the hips, sitting on a rattan stool with a round base and curved struts at the sides. The short-sleeved upper part smooth and decorated with horizontally striped borders at the edges and across the chest. On the chest, left and right, ring-shaped arrangements of dots around a central dot. The same model on both shoulders and cheeks. The physiognomy of the face worked out in relief and with striking definition, with large, ring-shaped earrings at the ears. On the forehead, between the eyebrows rendered by sweeping incised lines, a dot (Bindi). On the head a cap decorated (with petals?). Behind a hole in the back of the head of the hollow-worked figure, a suspension loop. The arms bent and holding objects in the hands (writing implement and sign, or parade?), held in front of the lap. Dark green Patina with light incrustations. The circular base of the stool indented from below in two places, broken at one point. Otherwise a completely intact and expressive figure of the North Vietnamese iron age. Height 9 cm.
