Description

1) Dagger with a blade tapering towards the head, curving inward at the tip. Wide midrib and only very shallowly offset, narrow chamfers before the cutting edges. Hilt attached at the upper end of the blade in cast-over technique. Crossguard trapezoidal in top view and oval in cross-section, terminating at the top in a bulbous border from which the slightly more pronounced edge strips with lightly concave sides also extend. Between them a hollow space for the insertion of handle scales made of organic material. At the top, the edge strips merge into a slightly upward-directed horse's head with a detailed, elaborately worked bridle and anatomical details. Dark green Patina with light incrustations and isolated corrosion scars. The cutting edges partially notched. Length 31.7 cm. 2) A shaft-hole axe, the front in the shape of a wide crescent, the rearward-tapering blade offset by a wide chamfer. From the rearward-directed ends of the blade, the blunt borders of the sides sweep elegantly outward towards the likewise rearward-projecting “wings”, which curve inward at the rear to meet the shaft, the latter with parallel, straight borders. The straight neck, running at a right angle to the borders, slightly hammer-peened. Dark green Patina with light incrustation and minimal corrosion scars. Length 13.8 cm. CULTURAL ASSET!
