Infantry cap body in dark-blue wool with single strand of yellow yarn soutache piping around circumference, extending vertically at each side, single ventilation grommets, black leather adjustable chinstrap secured by two silver-finish buttons. Black leather, lacquered visor with black textured underside. Heavy canvas lining with protective brown leather top hand-applied, black leather sweatband. 2nd Empire era. Size ca. 57 cm. Infantry 27th Regiment cap body in red wool with single strand of black yarn soutache piping around circumference, extending vertically at each side with circular piped border around top. Cap band of dark-blue cloth with red cloth numerals "27" adhered to front (numeral 7 is loose). Black leather lacquered visor with stitched rim, black textured underside. Blue cotton lining, brown leather sweatband with manufacturer name impressed in gold foil, silk tie at rear, white cloth label hand-applied with owner name in ink "GOMBERT".
