Description
Life-sized bust of bronzed terra-cotta. Strictly frontal depiction of the middle aged Empress. The pedestal signed on the right side "Hans Bitterlich". The surface slightly worn, the lower rim of the pedestal with smaller chips. Height 71 cm. Hans Bitterlich (1860 - 1949), Viennese sculptor. Probably his most famous work of art is the Empress Elisabeth monument in the Viennese Volksgarten, created between 1904 and 1907. In 1943 he was awarded the Goethe Medal for Arts and Sciences.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
