A Panzer Wrapper

Orden und Militaria ab 1919 | A108r | Präsenzauktion | 1467 Lose

Beschreibung

Constructed of high-quality black wool, this early First Pattern Panzer wrapper remains in very well-preserved condition. The garment displays only two small moth holes, both located on the collar tab, and is otherwise remarkably intact. The early first pattern Panzer breast eagle is neatly hand-sewn to the breast of the wrapper and appears to be period-applied. Notably, the eagle is attached by hand stitching, as is correct for these early examples, rather than the machine-sewn application more commonly encountered on later production models. The collar is fitted with correct early pink wool-piped collar tabs, which are machine stitched to the collar and appear to be originally applied. The interior corners where the collar meets the broad lapels retain the proper reinforcement stitching, and the reverse side of the collar displays the expected zig-zag reinforcement stitching characteristic of early production. The interior lining is of typical grey cotton twill and shows only light evidence of wear and service use. Above the side pocket, the lining bears a black stamped maker’s marking with size, depot, and year designation. The depot/date stamp reads “E36”, indicating Erfurt, 1936 production. A clear "Geprüft" inspection stamp for 8./Panzer-Regiment 5 is also present. All textbook construction details remain intact, including the belt adjustment hook loops and both waist drawstrings. A period name tag is present, inscribed for Panzerschütze Wenzel, 8. Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 5. The wrapper is currently fitted with captain’s shoulder boards. A rare and highly desirable early First Pattern Panzer wrapper, displaying all correct early-war characteristics and unit markings.
