Three sheets of DIN A4 paper. The first page with "Proposal No. 16 for the awarding of the German Cross in Gold," top left "12th SS Panzer Division 'Hitlerjugend'," top right incoming stamp "Reichsführer-SS Personal Staff" dated August 10, 1944, bottom right dated "Div. HQ, July 25, 1944," signed below in pencil "Meyer," and above it, in a third hand, "Awarded: August 25, 1944." The reverse side contains the proposal for "Ahrens, Ullrich, SS-Standartenoberjunker - Platoon Leader, 2nd Company/SS Panzer Regiment 12." The third page contains the endorsements of Kurt Meyer and Sepp Dietrich, each signed in pencil or ink. The fourth page contains a detailed description of Ahrens' five tank kills in 1944. Signed by SS-Sturmbannführer Arnold Jürgensen (Knight's Cross recipient) and SS-Obersturmbannführer Max Wünsche. Edge damage, punched holes, minor damage.
