Double side handwritten official letter on German Reichskanzler letterhead, dated 22 February 1937, to Costa Rican president León Cortés expressing congratulations and pledging the German Reich will always strive to preserve and strengthen relations between the two countries and assuring him of total esteem and sincere friendship. Signed Adolf Hitler and co-signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantin von Neurath. Bisecting horizontal fold, a bit of scattered light foxing and small binder holes along left edge. Measures ca. 27.5 x 21cm. León Cortés (1882 - 1946), between 1936 and 1940 28th President of Costa Rica. Although liberal, Cortés admired aspects of the 3rd Reich German economic policies. 40% of Costa Rica's coffee bean production was exported to Germany. He also appointed Max Effinger, his former consultant in the early 1930ies to director of immigration which led to a very restrictive immigration policy not allowing "non-Aryans" to enter the country.Zustand: II Fragen zum Los?
