Three delicate silver fruit knives stamped with “800” silver hallmarks and “KNEWITZ”, nine forks stamped with “800” silver hallmarks and “Heimdincer” all with intricate “RH”engraving on handles. Included is a single fruit knife stamped with “800” silver hallmarks and “KNEWITZ”, with “AH” engraved on handle acquired at same time. Consigned by the family of Brigadier General Charles R. Doran, assigned to staff of General Omar Bradley, Commanding General VII Corps Artillery and a Commanding General of Special Troops of what is now known as the “Ghost Army”, part of the 12th Army Group. Family relates that towards the end of the war his Headquarters was in Wiesbaden at the commandeered Henkell Mansion owned by Otto Henkell. At the end of the war, he traveled to Berchtesgaden and to Munich and while on this trip was given the silverware belonging to Rudolph Hess and a single knife belonging to Adolf Hitler.
