Description

Oil on light grey-primed canvas. Hussars in fur caps and dark blue uniforms of the time attack, circa 1866. In an elaborately relief-decorated and gilt decorative frame, on the reverse the label of the gilder Friedrich Lindner. Partially slightly damaged, signs of age and wear. Dimensions of the painting 40 x 66 cm, framed 66 x 93 cm. An interesting insight into the painting technique of the time, with black brush underdrawing and brown underpainting. Possibly a gift to a South German in recognition of his loyalty to the alliance with Austrian in the War of 1866.
