Description

Sturdy, elegantly curved, single-edged blade (tarnished, traces of rust at the root), cut with double fullers on both sides and three grooves near the spine, the broad, double-edged point in the back line. Tendrils and trophies etched at the root on both sides, an arrow on the spine. Knuckle-bow hilt in non-ferrous metal in relief (traces of silver plating) with rococo décor in relief on the pommel cap, original leather-covered grip (minor defects), a decorative rosette on each side. The scabbard in good condition with a wooden core and black leather cover (a small, re-blackened imperfection before the chape on the reverse). Non-ferrous metal fittings with lavish relief decoration on both sides (minor dents, traces of silver plating) of chased volutes and leaf ornaments, two movable suspension rings. Slightly damaged here and there, obvious signs of age and use. Length 101 cm. Superior edged weapon carried by the light cavalry in beautiful, original condition.
