Description

Kräftige, gerade, zweischneidige Klinge von sechseckigem Querschnitt mit Mittelspitze, beidseitig reich geätzt, dabei Ranken und Inschrift "Erinnerung an 13. 14. 15. März. 15. 26. Mai 1848", auf der Gegenseite "Mit Gott für Recht und Vaterland", am Ansatz der Stempel "Arzberg" und der Fundusstempel "K 2. 5 10 : 1161". Einteiliges eisernes Kreuzgefäß aus kunstvollem, geschwärztem Eisenguss mit außergewöhnlich reichem Figurenschmuck der antiken Mythologie. Inschriften berieben, Klinge fleckig, Gebrauchs- und Altersspuren. Länge 82 cm. Die Akademische Legion bildete einen Teil der Nationalgarde; die reiche künstlerische Gestaltung lässt auf das Künstler-Korps schließen. Vgl. Ortner/Artlieb, Mit blankem Säbel, Wien 2003, S. 47.
