Description
Fully sculpted head of a boy in light, reddish-brown clay with finely worked, lifelike facial features. Eyes with lids, lips and cheeks rendered precisely and well proportioned. The medium-length hair combed forward over the forehead, with a central lock drawn down onto the brow. Below the base of the neck, the original border of the sculpture, where it terminated, partially preserved. Minor chips to the hair at the forehead and nape, the chin, the lower lip and the lower edge of the neck, none of which detract from the overall impression. An artistically very accomplished votive head. Height 16 cm. CULTURAL ASSET!Provenance: A private collection from Upper Austria (estate), acquired by the father in the 1980s on the art market in Austria and southern Germany.
