Description

Watercolour over pencil on paper, signed and dated "Schönfeld 1836" at the bottom right. Gmunden on lake Traunsee. Under glass in a gilt moulded frame. The back re-pasted, the outside with a reproduction of the owner's stamp and the inscription "Gmund im Salzkammergut" on the back. Size of the painting approx. 15 x 20 cm. Size of the frame 21 x 26.5 cm. The famous lake castle Schloss Ort can be seen in the middle, which was also the setting of an Austrian television series. One of the oldest buildings in the Salzkammergut region (built in the 10th century), the castle was first chronicled in 909 and subsequently in 1053. Unique painting that once belonged to Ludwig II of Bavaria.
