Description
Case made of ebonized wood with inlaid brass ornaments and translucent tortoiseshell panels in the classic Boulle technique; rectangular body with a rounded-arch top, flanking pedestals (crowns likely once present), and glazed side openings for viewing the pendulum. Round brass dial with Roman hour indices, fine minute track, and openwork hands against a black textile background; engraved signature cartouche “Pierre De Baufre Paris” on the front, and signature visible on the rear brass movement plate. Rectangular brass movement with pendulum and striking mechanism, featuring a regulating disc and winding mechanism on the back. Base on turned feet; rear wooden door with veneered interior surface. Condition shows signs of use, wear on gilding and edges, minor chips on the case, and missing crown elements. Dimensions 49 x 30 x 13 cm.
