A fine Eger baroque cabinet with relief inlays, (Cheb/CZ) circa 1700

Description
Rectangular cabinet made of softwood with walnut veneer and ripple moulding décor. Offset, grooved pedestal, tiered top piece. Both doors with the original, engraved brass fittings. The original lock fully functional, the key a later replacement. The inside of the doors with an allegorical representation of the four seasons in fine marquetry in relief of different fruitwood. Central compartment with two panels one above the other, adorned with depictions of a park. Twelve drawers arranged around it, the top panels decorated with flower bowls and floral garlands in fine relief. Original brass knobs. The substructure probably contemporary and not originally associated. Turned columns with gilt capitals on claw-and-ball feet. The table top presumably renewed. Dimensions of the cabinet 66.5 x 73 x 37 cm. Total height 132 cm. Based on its stylistic features, this cabinet can probably be attributed to the workshop of Johann Karl Haberstumpf (1654 - 1724) in Cheb.
