Description

Plaster, bronzed (with minor chips) with golden touch, partially painted in color. Luitpold in habit with a ruff and puffed sleeves, a cape over his left shoulder. Around his neck the collar of the Order of St. Hubertus, with medallion and chain links partially painted in color. The lower rear edge signed and dated “H. Waderé 1896” (?). Dimensions ca. 101 x 86 x 62 cm, weight 62.2 kg. Heinrich Waderé (1865–1950) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich as of 1884 under Eberle and von Thiersch. In 1891 he opened his studio in Munich. Apart from numerous commissions for the Wittelsbach court, such as the marble bust of the Prince Regent for the Prinzregententheater, his works were on display in international exhibitions in Chicago, Antwerp, Paris, and Barcelona.
