Silver, worked in several pieces, and crystal. Horizontal oval writing set with curved, raised edge, engraved with the intertwined monogram „L" and the Bavarian royal crown. On four rocaille feet, one struck with an (inventory?) number of later date. A raised pedestal in the centre with two silver rings screw-mounted on the base to accommodate the bulbous, crystal containers, these chased into spirals, for ink and pounce, the openings set in silver. Between the two rings, there is a round silver container for sealing wax, also screw-mounted, the lid in the shape of a small candlestick with a curved handle. The sides stamped with unidentified silver hallmarks, probably English. Dimensions 26 x 17.5 x 11 cm, weight without the crystal containers 704 g. The set may have been a gift from Queen Victoria on the occasion of her visit to Bavaria in 1868; her husband, Prince Albert, and Ludwig II were cousins.Condition: I - II Questions about the lot?
