Description
Slender octagonal barrel, the smooth bore with feigned lands at the muzzle. Iron dovetail sights. Finely engraved lock with internal spring and sliding pan cover. On the lock plate the portrayal of a fox, carrying a goose into her den. Set trigger. Walnut full stock with rich inlays of engraved and blackened bone. Portrayal of hounds, game and mythical creatures between rich scrolling leaves. On the sideplate a lion, on the cheekpiece a hound bringing a stag to its knees. Patchbox with spring-loaded sliding cover. Iron trigger guard with later engraved owner’s monogram “DT”. Wooden ramrod with engraved bone tip. Length 114 cm.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
