Description

Privately purchased item with finely nickel-plated, single-edged blade, lavishly etched on both sides, with the inscription “8. (M.G.) Komp. 14. Bad. Inf. Regt.” Nickel-plated knuckle-bow hilt with fish-scale grip and wire winding. Black lacquered steel scabbard (rubbed, traces of rust) with a movable suspension ring and a suspension strap. Signs of age and wear. Length 94 cm. The 8th MG Company belonged to the II. Battalion of this Reichswehr regiment, established in 1921, alongside the Battalion staff, the signals section and the 5th to 7th gunner Companies.
