Description

Oil on oak panel. Inscribed on the reverse in old black ink “General = Quartiermeister Johannes von Ziegler”, black compass and square (Masonic symbols) and a later affixed label (heavily rubbed) with barely legible inscription. Standing full figure in blue-red uniform with bicorne, officer's sash and rapier, military tents and details of their interior in the background. Slightly damaged, Signs of age. Dimensions approx. 47 x 37 cm.
