Eugène Napoleon requests a “Major Général” to grant Colonel Joannis his retirement, “Il pourrais passer dans le Commandement de place”. Autograph signature “Eugene Napoleon”. Folded. Ink inscription at the upper edge, presumably by the Major General: “Décret du 27 Juillet - Exécuté le même jour”; inscribed in pencil at the lower edge in a collector's hand “Beauharnais, Eugène”.
