Description
Torso of a Buddha, preserved to hip height, the right arm missing entirely, the left broken off at the elbow. Hollow-cast figure with a solid clay casting core. Head and the ushnisha rising above it covered with fine curls, above which the flame of enlightenment, whose uppermost head is broken off. Deposits of oxides and incrustations on the surface, particularly below the neck. Very fine fragment of an antique Buddha statue in an excellent style. Preserved height 20.5 cm.
