Description
66.5 cm long copy of a tinned bronze sword from the Warring States period (5th–3rd century B.C.). Blade tapering towards the front with a central ridge, curving inward towards the head. Narrow, 2 mm wide bevels along the cutting edges. The hilt separated from the blade by a distinctly offset crossguard tapering to an obtuse angle at the bottom. Above, a circular grip with two angular ribs. The pommel a wide, funnel-shaped disc with pronounced edges at the border. The otherwise fresh and untouched surface bears a bright, full-coverage tinning, over which artificially applied green oxide coatings have been partially added to evoke the appearance of a perfectly preserved archaeological find. Decorative and well-crafted copy, housed in a Chinese casket lined with orange fabric on the inside and covered with patterned fabric on the outside.Condition: I Questions about the lot?
