The snaffle cheekpieces are straight on one side, on the other side slightly bevelled from the centre towards the ends. On the reverse, behind the central slot, a long rectangular loop for threading a leather strap of the headstall. The ends of the snaffle cheekpieces are furnished with a profiling typical of Roman metal objects. Transverse fluting and on each edge two semicircular notches. An excellently preserved and professionally restored and stable iron snaffle with only minimal traces of corrosion, clearly revealing all details of manufacturing technique and decoration.
