Description
Bronze with brown patina, on a green-and-white veined marble base (loose-fitting, not affixed). Kneeling female nude, torso reclined, head thrown back, eyes closed, hair gathered under a headband and tied into a knotted plait at the nape. Inscribed "A. Breker" and numbered 87/150 on the right leg, foundry mark "VENTURI ARTE". Scattered patina wear to the raised areas (shoulders, knees, insteps). Figure dimensions approx. 30 × 17 × 28 cm. Arno Breker settled in Paris in 1927 and moved in the circle of Maillol and Despiau; his late work is devoted almost exclusively to the female nude.Condition: I - Questions about the lot?
