Description

Bronze with a dark brown and greenish patina; the signature „Arno Breker" incised on the side of the plinth. Seated female nude, her legs bent at an angle and her arm behind her head; softly sculpted, smoothed volumes with reduced physiognomy. The figure and pedestal connected by means of abstract drapery forms. The surface with several areas of greenish patina and occasional circular dull spots; slight scratches and abrasion marks on exposed edges, overall in good condition. Dimensions approx. 32 × 34 × 19 cm. Arno Breker studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts and worked in Paris in the 1920s, where he developed his classically oriented figurative style.
