Description

Small-scale series for the Weapons and Equipment Office of the Waffen SS, based on the Luftwaffe B-Uhr but with a larger diameter (65 mm). Nickel-plated brass case with the crown at 3 o'clock, modern leather strap. Black dial with luminous indices, large minute numerals around the edge with additional minute numerals in mirror script (for photographs) and hour circle with Roman numerals, blued luminous hands and central seconds hand (second stop function, 1/5-second intervals), plus inscription "W-SS" and "M-B". Grained gilt 2/3 plate movement with manual winding in 48/1 calibre, double-marked with the factory serial number "215682". The inside of the lid stamped with the ALS logo and "C 57", matching numbers "215682" on the outside. Functional. See Knirim, "Die Uhren der Deutschen Streitkräfte", p. 270/71. Inspection was carried out at manufacturing level 3 on 18 May 1943, dispatched as express freight to SS Artillerie Academy Glau on 22 October 1943. Includes a certificate dated 2011 from the German Watch Museum Glashütte. Probably the rarest military B-Uhr made by ALS. Comes with a photocopy of the A. Lange & Söhne dispatch book, showing delivery to the SS Führungshauptamt, Amt IX, Berlin-Wilmersdorf, on 22 October 1943. A total of 22 SS observer's watches were dispatched on this date. The watch is fully functional and in good condition. Extremely rare find. According to the dispatch books dated 1943 and 1944, 33 watches were produced.
