Description

Glass milk bottle (0.5 liter) with blue inscription “Gutshof Obersalzberg”. Three heavy porcelain plates by Hutschenreuther Selb with brick-red rim decoration, produced for the Gutshof Obersalzberg. Slight signs of use. Rare original survivals from the so-called “Gutshof Obersalzberg,” a large-scale agricultural estate established in 1938 under Reichsleiter Martin Bormann. The Gutshof formed part of the comprehensive restructuring of the Obersalzberg into a Führer restricted area. The pieces originate from the estate of the former “Oberschweizer” (head dairyman) of the Gutshof, Mr. Mistlbacher. In the early 1990s, the items were transferred to a recognized specialist in the history of the Obersalzberg, who documented them. Included with the collection is an 8-page certificate of provenance from this expert, featuring interesting contemporary illustrations of the estate, its staff, and the milk deliveries to Hitler's Berghof.
