Description

Walnut. Height 90 cm, width 67 cm, length 69 cm, weight approx. 24 kg. Upholstery renewed at a later date. Traces of age and use. This rare armchair originates from the representative fireplace room of "Bechsteinhaus" on Obersalzberg and was designed by Munich architect Prof. Heinrich Michaelis. Characteristic of the furniture designed for Bechsteinhaus are the slightly rounded terminations of the backrest. The object comes with a 30-page written expert report, detailing the provenance, building history and furnishings of Bechsteinhaus, supplemented by numerous historical photographs and contemporary documents.
