Description

Nickel-plated, double-edged blade of diamond section (somewhat stained), lavishly etched on both sides. Gilt brass knuckle-bow hilt (rubbed) with ostentatious, fully sculptured embellishment, the crowned coat of arms of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha appliquéd on the obverse guard plate, smooth mother-of-pearl grip scales. Black leather scabbard (bent) with gilt brass mountings (rubbed), engraved with leaf ornaments, a frog stud shaped like a palmette on the locket. Also includes an older, light-coloured leather case (stained, small holes). Signs of age and handling. Length 96.5 cm. Extremely rare find.
