A late Republican sword blade of Delos type, 1st century B.C.

Description

The slender, long, double-edged blade with straight, almost parallel cutting edges, widening only slightly towards the middle, and elongated, triangular point. A pronounced medial ridge on both sides. Rounded grip hinge with traces of hammering, the flattened top edge broken. The root of the blade flaring out slightly below the quillons. The surface slightly corroded and covered with iron oxides. Minimal notches on the cutting edges. The iron substance in excellent condition overall, professionally restored and stabilised. Length 77 cm. CULTURAL ASSET
