Description

North German morion, the skull forged in two pieces with a tall, roped comb. Two linear ornaments hammered into each side, continuous lining rivets with brass and pewter rosettes along the lower edge. The tapering brim with a roped edge, struck inwards. A long fracture on one side of the brim at the base of the skull; a riveted repair near a point. The gorget opening on a hinge, with two sliding neck lames. Lateral trunnions to attach the arm defences. The unassociated pauldrons each sliding on four lames, with turned flanges. The riveting of one bar open on the side. Lightly ridged breastplate drawn out to a slight central point, the circular flanges struck inwards. The attached broad tassets sliding on five lames. Associated backplate with turned flanges. The leather lining damaged in places. Mounted on a fine wooden stand. Overall height approx. 182 cm.
