Description

Small card (80 x 140 mm) with raised inscription (tr.) "For the New Year – Best wishes" embossed in gold, underneath it handwritten ink signature "Adolf Hitler". Envelope addressed to (tr.) "Miss Betty Moritz – Landsberg a/L. – penal institution" in ink by Emil Maurice, Munich postmark dated 31 December 1927.
Condition: II + Betty Moritz (1910 – 2003) was the daughter of the prison guard Valentin Moritz. Frequently visiting her father at Landsberg prison she made friends with inmate Hitler and the other November-putschists. Until well into the 1930ies Hitler kept sending her postcards and books, all of which had been kept in family hands until recently. Questions about the lot?

The auction includes 608 lots and starts on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at 10 am (CET). Lot no. 2001 - 2608. The pre-sale viewing will take place from Oct. 18 - 21 Oct., 2020 from 2 to 6 pm (CET). However, the number of participants for both auction and viewing is limited due to Covid-19 restrictions and requires an appointment. Bring your favourite breathing mask! Prior to any visit please check our website - we'll update it as soon as the situation changes.
