Small card (83 x 132 mm), not pre-printed, with inscription and date in Hitler’s own hand (tr.) "Munich 26 January 1926 – Dear Miss Moritz – Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your kind New Year’s greetings. During this sad time of confinement your little head has given all of us so much joy. Please accept, as a modest sign of my grateful memory, the enclosed book that was conceived during these months. With German greeting. Yours sincerely Adolf Hitler".Early and very rare, elaborate autograph. The first edition of volume 1 of "Mein Kampf" sent together with this card, also with personal dedication by Hitler, is offered in the next lot.
Condition: II + Betty Moritz (1910 – 2003) was the daughter of the prison guard Valentin Moritz. Frequently visiting her father at Landsberg prison she made friends with inmate Hitler and the other November-putschists. Until well into the 1930ies Hitler kept sending her postcards and books, all of which had been kept in family hands until recently. Questions about the lot?
