Description

Six lined pages size A4, double-folded, the edges partly knocked, the top with perforation where the sheets were torn from a notepad, each with traces of a paperclip on the upper left, the first and last page with additional traces of rust from the clip. All pages with handwritten notes by Hitler in black ink, some parts underlined and some highlighted in red indelible pencil. On the upper right pencil pagination in Hitler’s own hand.
Hitler sets out to underline (tr.) "3 years of social peace!", but admonishes that (tr.) "the crowd is forgetful! – The pleasant things – yes – but - also - the unpleasant ones". He continues with deliberations on the class struggle, which was (tr.) "particularly insane in Germany!" and could only be contained by common sense, more precisely (tr.) "common sense exercised by leadership". The biggest danger of the class struggle was the (tr.) "dissolution of the state –the people", but, on the other hand, (tr.) "the churches have also failed!". He goes on to praise national socialism and its community as the only solution for the (tr.) "existence of our people" threatened by (tr.) "Bolshevism" and rejects the (tr.) "state without tax". He calls the WHW (tr.) "help by everyone", demands more willingness to make sacrifices (tr. "Why stew – To demand sacrifices"), he knows that the (tr.) "collections are annoying", but (tr.) "Is hunger not even more annoying?". Moreover, he emphasises that the WHW was there (tr.) "for everyone. Also for Jews" and finishes by calling once more on the willingness to make sacrifices. The last page with third-hand inscription "Winterhilfswerk 9. Oktober 1935" in red indelible pencil on the left edge.
With regard to the terse keywords (tr.) "collections are annoying?" and (tr.) "why stew" mentioned in his manuscript Hitler gains momentum in his speech: (tr.) "Don't tell me: All right, but it's still a bother to do all this collecting. You have never experienced what it means to have nothing to eat, otherwise you would know how irritating hunger is. [.] And if the other then says: But you know, all these stew Sundays, I would like to give something, but it's my stomach. [.] No, dear friend, there is a reason behind everything we do. It is particularly useful for you, someone who does not understand, if in this way at least we can give you back to your people."
