Description

Five lined pages size A4, each folded in the middle, the edges partly knocked, the top with perforation where the sheets were torn from a notepad, each with traces of a paperclip on the upper left, the first and last page with additional traces of rust from the clip. All pages with handwritten notes by Hitler in pencil, some parts underlined in red indelible pencil. On the upper right pencil pagination (1a, 1b, 2, 3, und 4) in Hitler’s own hand.
Hitler thanks for the (tr.) "work of the Women’s League", calls it the (tr.) "biggest women’s organisation worldwide", and claims that the (tr.) "proof of the ability of German woman was their leader – Mrs. Scholz-Klink" (sic). He continues to elaborate on the family and its importance for the aims of the National Socialists, (tr.) "Man – woman – the two are inseparably linked together", he is concerned about the (tr.) "future of the children" because (tr.) "any struggle is in vain without children – they are everything!". He finishes by thanking the mothers, because bearing children was (tr.) "the greatest and brightest hope in the national socialist state" in which (tr.) "anyone [.] can become anything".
Hitler’s speech to the National Socialist Women’s League on the 1936 Nuremberg Rally is only mentioned in two quotes in Domarus (Hitler – Reden 1932 – 1945, volume 2, page 640), in one of them Hitler states his claim to the German children: (tr.) "As I travel through Germany, I see in all those millions of children nothing less than what gives meaning to all of our work. I see in them the children who are their mother’s just as they are mine at the same time."
