Description
Magnificent large leather folder with excellently cut imperial escutcheon with eagle underneath the imperial crown and above a banner with Bismarck’s motto "In Trinitate Robur", surrounded by raised tendrils on finely punched ground. The four corners with brass appliqués within blossom ornaments, the reverse (somewhat scratched) with line décor. On the obverse gilt brass buckle. The inside as well as the flaps clad with red silk.Enclosed are three decorative pages (dimensions 60.5 x 45 cm), the cover sheet with dedication to Bismarck and watercolour scenes by Reiner Beissel with views of the Rhineland and student scenes within ornamental cartouches with the princely coat of arms of Bismarck and the imperial and royal Prussian coat of arms. Furthermore, medallions with muses and imperial portraits. Two-page message of congratulations in calligraphic script in black, red and gold, also with watercolour décor. Followed by 29 signature pages of the Bonn fraternities such as "Amicitia", "Cheruskia", "Alemannia", "Franconia". "Germania", "Agraria", "Marchia", "Markomannia", "Normannia", "Salia", "Cimbria" and "Wingolf".Condition: II Questions about the lot?
