Orders and Military Collectibles until 1918 | A109m | Live auction | 1500 Lots
Description
A total of 17 round cardboard apothecary jars (diameter 5.3 cm) bearing contemporary inscriptions, dated between 1892 and 1897, each filled with white hair of Bismarck. Also included are 11 postcards and 13 telegrams from valet Pinnow to hairdresser Röhrig, specifying the date and time of the requested appointment to style Bismarck's hair at Friedrichsruh. Furthermore, five notarised certificates authenticating the hair samples, a newspaper article on the subject and other documents. In an old leather case (approx. 26 x 24 x 9 cm). Some items are slightly damaged, with signs of wear and age. Bismarck's valet, Pinnow, would request the barber Röhrig to cut the Prince's hair by telegram (dispatch) or postcard. Röhrig collected small hair samples in apothecary boxes and marked them with the date of the haircut. He even noted the method by which he had been commissioned – whether by telegram or postcard. The authenticity of his hair samples was certified by a notary. A unique, authentic lot of museum quality.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
