Order printed in black on thin (toned) paper, issued by the military commander of the Soviet sector of Berlin, Major General Dibrova, declaring a state of emergency and imposing prohibitions effective June 17, 1953, at 1:00 p.m. Folded; minor damage. Dimensions approx. 54 x 38 cm. Framed and glazed. The popular uprising of June 17, 1953, sparked protests and strikes by over a million people against the government and poor living conditions. The Soviet military administration not only declared a state of emergency but also deployed tanks. In total, there were over 50 fatalities and more than 13,000 arrests.Condition: II - Questions about the lot?
