Description

Heavy silver-plated version with mother-of-pearl inlaid keys; the bell features a stamped Luftwaffe eagle within an oak-leaf wreath and the manufacturer's inscription "Oskar Adler & Co Markneukirchen 1939." Number "7403" on the reverse. Includes mouthpiece and a damaged storage case (approx. dimensions 60 x 25 x 15 cm). Although the use of the saxophone as an instrument associated with "degenerate music" was controversial, both the Ministry of Propaganda and the Reich Ministry of Aviation advocated for its inclusion. Consequently, the Luftwaffe's music corps received a set of five saxophones in 1940. Completeness and functionality not verified; servicing recommended. A very rare, decorative instrument.
