Description

The bust depicts "Klaus," the son of artist Wilhelm Krieger; he served with the Gebirgsjäger (mountain troops) and was killed in action on the Eastern Front. The artist's signature, "Krieger," appears on the side, with the name "Klaus" written in pencil beneath it. The peak of the field cap had broken off and was subsequently reattached; the piece weighs approximately 4 kg. It shows signs of age and use. This is a unique work by the artist and sculptor. Krieger exhibited his work at the "Great German Art Exhibition" (*Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung*) at the Haus der Kunst in Munich between 1937 and 1944.
