Orders and Military Collectibles from 1919 onwards | A109r | Live auction | 1186 Lots
Description
Light passenger vehicle developed from 1938 on the range of the KdF-Wagen (“Beetle”) for military use, with increased ground clearance. Open sheet-metal body with metal doors and canvas top, as well as removable side windows (missing here). Air-cooled 4-cylinder boxer engine in the rear with mechanical 4-speed gearbox and rear-wheel drive. 6V electrical system. Typical older restoration using self-fabricated parts, including a post-war Beetle engine, as well as its floorpan, axles and other components. The vehicle shows clear signs of hard use on the bodywork, which was merely given an overcoat of lacquering. It has been converted purely cosmetically into a “Funkkübel” without retrofitting the specific technical details. It received a field-grey lacquering with the markings of a signals unit. The speedometer/instrument panel and other parts are reproductions; the seat covers are missing, and, as a result of the Funkkübel conversion, so is the rear bench seat. The vehicle stood long as a display piece in a hall and was only occasionally used for demonstration drives. The engine could be started with an external battery and fuel supply. No test drive was carried out. New German vehicle registration document (proof of ownership) and keys are available. First registered in summer 1943; odometer reading approx. 88,000 km, actual mileage unknown. Due to the long period of storage the vehicle shows corrosion; replacement of all fluids, a tank cleaning and a full Service are also recommended. Completeness and function not verified. The vehicle is sold as a restoration project, is not roadworthy and must be collected by trailer. Location is Grasbrunn near Munich.Condition: III Questions about the lot?
