Description

Oil on canvas (mounted on board), signed "I H Kaemmerer" at the lower left. Full-length standing figure of a French-style hussar in uniform, wearing a brown fur busby, a green dolman with gold braiding, and white breeches. Housed in a gilded profile frame decorated with relief palmettes, rosettes, and scrolling foliage (nicks/chips, re-glued on the reverse, paint touch-ups). Minor localized damage and signs of age. Image dimensions 48 x 29 cm; frame dimensions 62.5 x 44.5 cm. A masterful painting with a vivid effect and precise rendering of uniform details.
