Description
Typical early La Tène fibula with foot bent back. The bow thickened at the centre and tapering distinctly towards the spring and foot. Spring with six coils and lower external chord. The catch plate forged from the bottom of the approximately triangularly bent-back foot and notched on the outer projecting side. The foot forged out into a small disc at the upturned end, with a clamp in front fixing the foot to the back of the bow. Mounted on the small disc by means of a rivet, a 3 cm wide convex decorative disc with a central boss and a surrounding raised rib. Soldered onto the central boss four, and onto the raised rib nine, wire spirals each with a granule at the centre. Fine, dark green patina, partially with minimal incrustations. Length 8.7 cm. An exceptionally fine and splendid example.
