Description
Ten phalerae of varying sizes. In the middle, a bead hammered from underneath running around a central hole. The outer edge of the bead and the edge of the disc contoured by means of turning grooves and concentric ribs. Several rivets are preserved in the central hole, with hat-shaped or mushroom-shaped heads. An iron "shim" on the underside, sometimes the entire rivet made of iron. Three different diameters: 7 cm (two rivets), approx. 9 cm (five), 10.7 cm (three). Glossy, dark green patina, some areas with oxide deposits, in many cases allowing the metallic base to shimmer through. A few pieces almost only metallic in colour. Also includes two iron snaffle gags. A small disc at the ends and a plate in the shape of an "eight" in the centre, all with two perforations. Length 15.7 and 16.2 cm. Moreover, a two-part bit bar with coiled iron ends. The coiled ends intertwined in the middle. Length 14 cm.Provenance: South German private collection, inherited from the consignor's father in the late 1990s.
