Description
An iron sword of the early iron age with a remarkably narrow blade featuring a central ridge. The slightly drawn-in upper section transitions into a slightly convex middle section. The elegantly curved cutting edges converge into a long, drawn-out head. The blade is furnished with a central ridge in the shape of a narrow raised rib, whose lateral edges stand out clearly from the blade. Convex grip plate with low edge strips that, in the lower section, laterally embrace the blade — which flares out at the uppermost part — with two wings, with a bell-shaped recess between them. In the wings, one iron rivet remains on each side, left and right. Length 81 cm. Minor chipping along the cutting edges; the uppermost part of the grip plate is missing. Otherwise, an exceptionally well-shaped sword of the early iron age in a rare variant primarily suited for thrusting. Cultural Asset!Condition: III + Questions about the lot?
