Description

Double spiral composed of two spiral discs formed from bronze wire with 15 coils, the wire approx. 3 mm thick on the outside and tapering towards the centre to approx. 1 mm. The two spiral discs are connected in the middle by a spiral tube of ten coils, the bronze wire there approx. 2 mm thick. Very fine, dark green lustrous Patina. A particularly aesthetic piece of apparently simple Bronze Age craftsmanship, yet skilfully employing varying wire gauges that were not easy to produce, and distinguished by very well-balanced proportions. Length 16.2 cm. CULTURAL ASSET!

Provenance: A private collection from northern Germany, acquired in the 1980s on the German art market.
