Description
An M 1867 helmet with tombac skull, ridged at the back. Screw-mounted emblem (replaced square nuts in leather) in the shape of an appliquéd guard star with a black eagle in blackened iron. Ridged front visor, convex chinscales with leather underlay on screws (the rosettes have been lost). Prussian cockade in lacquered sheet iron, screw-mounted nickel-silver parade eagle (square nut replaced) with screw-mounted crown for enlisted men. Black leather liner (scuffed), the undersides of the visors re-lacquered green/black. Also includes the early version of the 19th century parade cuirass made of steel, re-lacquered black, unlined. The breastplate and backplate trimmed in red cord (renewed). The backplate with old chinscales with leather underlay and bandolier hook, old, riveted, leather belt. Moreover, from the same source, a glass-framed GdC reservist painting, depicting Theodor Vering of the Leib squadron (size of the frame 59 x 69 cm). Some parts incomplete, slightly damaged, signs of wear and use. The Russian Tsar Alexander I presented the black cuirass to the regiment in 1814 as a token of friendship and allegiance.
