A magnificent sabre belonging to a high-ranking officer in the Danish light cavalry, circa 1810

Description
Sturdy yet slender and elegantly curved single-edged blade (pitted and notched in places). A half-concealed smith's mark (squirrel?) at the root, ornaments lavishly etched (worn) on both sides, including the crowned Danish coat of arms and the crowned sovereign's cipher „FR" for Frederick VI (1808 - 1839). Knuckle-bow hilt in gilt, non-ferrous metal with lavish relief decoration and fully sculptured lion's heads on the quillons and on the outside of the knuckle guard. The hilt with ostentatious copper wire winding (somewhat loose, one small, inconspicuous repair). The brass scabbard decorated with blossoms and trophies in relief on the obverse (remnants of gilding, indentations) with scaled ring bands, two movable suspension rings and iron drag. Slightly damaged here and there, signs of age and use. Length 104 cm. Finely balanced, magnificent officer's sabre based on the French model. In good condition.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
