Two volumes in one. Vellum binding with gold-lined edge decor, four bands, gilt top edge, title on the back. The end-paper gold-stamped "Hans Zieher, Bonn" on the lower edge. In very good condition, no browning, staining or foxing, minimal bumping on the top edge of the last 40 pages (about 1mm), hardly noticeable. Octavo. Hans Zieher, a student of the Hermann Göring Master School of Painting, was one of the most famous bookbinders of his time. His father, also a bookbinder, worked for the master school and prepared vellum bindings for the school library, mostly in exchange for artwork by school leader Werner Peiner. When Hans Zieher became a student there, Peiner established a bookbinding workshop in which Hans Zieher made vellum folders which were presented to Adolf Hitler and Hermann Göring with birthday or special occasion cards.
